Investment banking internship in Tokyo, JapanI continued my interest in the financial market into my internship in the summer of 2014 by working for UBS, one of the bulge bracket investment banks in the world. I worked in Tokyo as an equity sales and trading intern for 10 weeks.
The work at UBS was extremely demanding, both physically and intellectually. I consistently worked over 90 hours per week and was tasked with many challenging projects over the span of my internship. Through my internship, I worked on the trading floor, observing the work of equity cash and derivative trading, sales, prime brokerage, and algorithmic trading, and doing projects for each desk. Even though the work was very tough, I was able to enjoy every second of it. The trading floor was full of energy and adrenaline, filled with new challenges and tasks on a daily basis. Every day posed different problems to analyze and challenges to conquer which excited me. In my 10 week internship, I learned so much about the equity market, trading, and analysis. But more importantly, the internship showed me what it would take to be a successful investment banker. I was able to befriend many bankers I respect and look up to; the connections that would last through my career. |
Starting my career at UBS in 2015After my internship, I was offered a full time position which I accepted. I will be working on the equity sales and trading team in Tokyo after I graduate in the summer of 2015.
I am looking forward to the career full of challenges and personal development. By conquering those challenges, I hope to become a respectable investment banker in the near future! |
